Indian Pre-paid League

Its ashtonishing to see the muck the brand builder of IPL has dug out! I am sure he did not envisage such a pitch!!

Indian passion for cricket feeds such greed. Wish we could look at some other sport with equal vengance!

For better or for worse ..........its cricket

Breaking Through

I am a working Mom. A full time job along with helping my family to run an NGO . Is that enough ? No I say, I can do so much more in a day.

I am very excited to meet Waheeda Rahman today. I am no big celebrity fan, Hollywood, Bollywood or Tollywood. It all depends on the role they play in the movie for me to be a fan for that particular movie. But there is something about Waheeda Rahman.

I first happen to meet her at a book launch. “Breaking Through”, ( a handbook for parents and teachers of children with Specific Learning Disabilities) written by a dear friend and a woman who I admire: Mrs. Farida Raj. There was Waheeda Rahman along with Anupam Kher and others….but she stood out with her ram rod straight back, grey hair, the absolute poise that she carried herself with. I said to my self, “this is how I would like to grow old” !

A lovely ceremony, showcased a well bonded coehesive family, all extremly talented. The son made a witty, well informed, interesting MC. The husband Vijay Mohan Raj stood at the back of the hall beaming with happiness and pride with his wife and son taking centre stage. He is used to being in the limelight himself, recognised in the cricket field, well respected in the travel fraternity to speak of a few.

He let them shine and basked in the halo himself.

As I drove back home, I was happy I skipped my Coffee club do for the Book Launch. I carried home visions of grace, dignity, creativity and humility.

I AM HUMBLED.

Woman friends Vs Men Friends...........

Few months ago, during one of those 'lulls' in my life and against every fibre of my being , I joined a 'Ladies Coffee Club' ! Let me expand on that thought. My husband is a part of a Social/ do good'ers club (much like the Mason/Round Table/Lions/rotary etc...).

The member's ladies decided they should have yet another platform to get together and add "Value" to their lives. Hence, was born the "Shapely Coffee Club" ( names changed...I still want to belong to it! {*Frown..worry*} ;)

We meet once a month...have Coffee Do's with games thrown in ...tricks at the cocktail counter. Lunch's with Demo's of desserts....Holi party with team building games...enjoyable, interactive, fun. I must admit.

Till someone decides to change the course often trodden in fancy high heels and trendy gladiators and 'Be Difffernt'.

Here is the next invite ...."Look Goood, Feel Good" (pretty harmless? Yeah right...)

It comes with a Picture of "Jassi" ( of "Jassi Jaisey Koi Nahi" fame)
Before and After.

NOT Now, Not in my current state of state of mind....

Yea thats what I needed after a full days of work? An exchange of words ...with hubby ( he Cant fight !! ) In laws at home (3) , stream of guests for them......a 'nunga punga' (buck naked)kid running around ,hair let loose, refusing to eat and change into her night suit!
Plan each one of them a different dinner....No they are not fussy, just very simply traditional. Each one on a different 'Varth'...or...whatever ...you call eating fruits and rice....ghee....++++

Now my girl gang ( I had never believed in one.....still struggling with it ;) tell me they getting me a "Make over"! Yes, its confirmed,EVEN they do blv I need one!!

I Live on the 7th floor and I am 'Metabolically challenged". I quickly closed the french windows to curb the urge !!! Got into the shower, washed the thought off and hit the bed.

If only ..........I had stuck to my good ole buddies!! Had a beer .......discussed iPads.......music..web site .....sales strategies and bitched !! Come out after rubbing my eye balls...sleepy...fixed grin on my face....and a sigh..

I was in denial...I went out to prove them all wrong...I have more men friends then women. Yes, I do. But,let me now accept, I enjoy the company of my male buddies better.

Of Hotels and Training evenings after..........

Last 2 evenings I have spent sitting in the lounge of my hotel watching all business/corporate workers.

There were horizontal eyed gentlemen in Suits ! Yes, they dont take off their coats even after a few glasses of beer. Never mind the heat.

A group of twirly, curlies brightly attired...stockings, high heels and all. Strange they were either more than well endowed or a perfect hour glass :). Rather extremes I say.

The hotel is full of Airlines Crew......dont they get fed up of all that make up? Do they even recall what is the original shape of their eyes ? Lips?

The best was the Duo ...singers...crooners....the chap looked every bit straight out of one of the huge multi-storied, Multi-national companies.....striped shirt sitting on his shoulders....hairly upper lip......

the lady was a treat to the eye, with diagonal eyes!!

She was fabulous at eating away every last consonant of the song....religiously.

She sang some Olden Goldies ........"Daddy ...daddy coooooo , I am crazy like a fooooo" . She was brave enough to even sing along with her companion Chris Issak's "What wicked games you plaaa/ To make me feel this waaaa".

I couldnt resist requesting for "Be'same Mucho" ;) And oblige she did!

Evil arnt I !!?? But I loved it ....

My name is khan

Yes, my name too is Khan. And I am proud of it.
Karan Johar took a simple fact to the sublime and let me linger ....teary and yet bright eyed.

I agree, there is a bit of an overbite of movies on Muslims/Islam/Terrorists...etc. I enjoyed "Wednesday", as much as I enjoyed MNIK. The first time that Shah Rukh Khan turns around to state " My Name Is Khan and I am not a terrorist", brought huge tears to my eyes... Dont ask me why...it just did.

Yes, this is not a review of the movie , but a part of my introduction. Hopefully, I shall be able to articulate a bit of me in every few words / blogs I manage to write.

My name is Khan and I am here to stay  :)
